Why do women choose to NOT become proficient in Self Defense? (ussdpoway.com)

Avoidance. Detachment from reality. It won’t happen to me. We’ve all become so desensitized to death, rape, and other violent crimes because of the shows we watch on regular television. How many different CSI shows are there? And the news reads like another CSI show anyway.

Worse than this detachment is the fact that we all know someone who has been victimized, but we don’t know we know. These are horrible things to talk about, emotional topics that make men and women angry to discuss…so we don’t talk about them. We’ll argue over politics, or over Coke vs. Pepsi, not knowing that a dear family member of ours was assaulted. The Crime has Power. Power over our lives until we open up about it, talk about it…make your friends take regular self-defense classes.

“Oh, I took a class…” I hear that a lot. Or better yet: “I don’t need self defense classes…I’m never alone.” Or my most favorite of all: a lady will read a flier offering a free self defense class and she will hand it back to me with a : “I don’t need any more trash!” OK! If your ability to defend yourself is “trash” then you have just joined the majority of women in the statistic. Be Honest with YOURSELF!!! How many women still run with their IPods in their ears, alone…unaware and without a care in the world. GET REAL! These things only get worse, not better. It is YOUR DUTY to your family, yourself, your community to learn how to defend yourself.

And one class won’t do it. I mean regular classes until and beyond the point where your body automatically fires out with the best response possible: ATTACK!!! Yell, scream, punch, kick!!!

In the end as human beings we all have Free Choice. So make the right choice and choose regular Self Defense Classes!!!
