Special Forces and Hand to Hand Combat

Most people think Special Forces , Seals, Rangers and Delta are all highly trained martial artists. After all isn't that what we see on TV? The truth is; yes these men are highly trained individuals; however, not all of them are martial artsits. There is some truth to them having extensive hand to hand combat training. Their training is extensive compared to the average person in the military not the average martial artist who has spent 10 or more years in the gym or Dojo. So after hearin all this what makes our most elite so effective when it comes to unarmed combat?

The Theory of Relativity for Combat Training

Einstein's theory of relativity may have Mathematicians and Scientists in heated debate; but a theory that all things are relative can not be disputed when it comes to combat training. All things being relative is the view point expressed in the book Combat Application techniques: Principles Of Destruction written by Andrew Curtiss. This is a practice that has long been taught since the days of the Samurai of feudal Japan. People in general do not have enough faith in their unarmed combat abilities.

A new combative system(Combat Application techniques) is developed from several other arts

Andrew Curtiss is a former Green Beret and national blackbelt karate champion in 2000 He was a soldier in a Long Range Surveillance (LRS) company; when he was tasked with training his platoon in hand to hand combat. Andrew was frustrated with the Long duration competition style combatives derived from Ultimate Fighting and Brazilian Jujitsu the Army was teaching soldiers. That is when he sat down to design a combative system that would be fast, efficient and deadly. By 2002 he was once again tasked to develop a combatives training plan for his then Special Forces Team.
